For a perfect indoor climate, all systems must work together optimally. At the same time, the indoor climate depends on very many factors, and all homes and utility buildings are different and thus have different requirements. It is therefore essential that heating, cooling and ventilation are completely attuned to the specific situation, the specialty of Groupe Atlantic Netherlands.
The focus for the installation industry is on making buildings more sustainable, with all-electric heat pumps, hybrid solutions, ventilation systems and air-conditioning heaters at the center. That should be with integrated total solutions, they believe at Groupe Atlantic Nederland. That Dutch family business is one of the largest national developers and suppliers of all-electric indoor climate systems for heating, cooling and ventilating homes and utility buildings.
Differences by property and location
But there are lots of different types of homes and buildings, and therefore there are also an awful lot of options for indoor climate control. So there are also a lot of solutions needed that differ for each home and location. Just look at new construction houses and renovation houses, they both have very different options and expectations with regard to insulation, ventilation and heating.
In renovation situations, for example, lack of space is often a challenge, or a lot of other steps need to be taken before sustainable indoor climate systems can be applied. You then have to apply triple glazing and add extra insulation before starting a heat pump.
But good insulation means an airtight home, which in turn presents challenges for good ventilation. In renovation homes, in some cases there is no room for balanced ventilation or heat pumps, but then you can already make a lot of sustainability improvements with mechanical ventilation and an air conditioner without compromising on health and comfort.
Balanced ventilation
A concrete example makes that clear. You see that in many BENG homes, very good insulation is chosen, combined with low-temperature heating based on a heat pump. But with such a concept, mechanical ventilation with facade grilles can quickly lead to comfort complaints. Fresh air then enters the room unheated. Residents then try to compensate for this cold by turning the thermostat up a degree. Except that a heat pump is precisely tuned to a certain design temperature and thus responds "slowly. Then you have a lot to gain from balanced ventilation, because then you recover heat or cold. Then the heat pump can also do its job optimally.
Thinking about the big picture
That shows that you have to be familiar and experienced with a lot of principles to be able to offer smart total solutions that respond well to these changing demands. So you see that there is a lot of demand from installers for good support for these kinds of total orders. We can then support exactly where it is needed.'
Groupe Atlantic is not so much about using their own brands. They can combine very well according to the customer's wishes, also switching with other brands. As an organization, they have a great deal of knowledge of the interplay of techniques and principles, which allows them to think well about the overall picture.
From Orcon to Groupe Atlantic
Within Groupe Atlantic Nederland there is a lot of knowledge about the three product groups of heating, cooling and ventilation. They also develop much of it themselves, which allows them to develop purposefully based on the wishes and needs of the market. Think for example of our hybrid add-on without indoor unit.
Orcon BV has been developing and manufacturing its own products for ventilation since 1970. Since 2009, under the name Thercon BV, they have also been importing and distributing air conditioning heaters from Fujitsu, and from 2013 they added heat pumps from Atlantic. Through those imports, they came into contact with the main organization, Groupe Atlantic, and a partial acquisition was started in 2017. In 2020, Oron BV and Thercon BV merged, and since 2021 the organization is officially called Groupe Atlantic Netherlands. But they still carry three separate product brands: Orcon (ventilation), Fujitsu (cooling) and Atlantic (heating).
Groupe Atlantic Netherlands will be at VSK. Stop by in hall 12, booth D030 to talk at length about how to coordinate all installations for a perfect indoor climate.
