Signify announced a new range of Philips Hue bulbs and app features that offer more ways to personalize lighting. For example, the Philips Hue ball lamp is now available in different shades of warm white as well as colored light, and the Philips Hue Aurelle and Surimu ceiling lights come in new shapes and designs.
In addition, the Philips Hue app gets two new features: the brightness balancer, which controls the brightness of individual bulbs, and additional time slots for motion sensors to activate desired lighting at any time of day.
The Philips Hue E14 ball bulb, the smallest bulb from this brand, is now also available in a White and Color Ambiance variant, which allows you to illuminate even the most remote corner of your home with warm to cool white light and as many as 16 million colors. This bulb is about the size of a golf ball and in terms of size and shape, it will fit into even the smallest fixtures in your home.
With their updated shapes and designs, Philips Hue ceiling lights fit even better with any interior. The Philips Hue Aurelle ceiling light is now also available in a high-quality black finish with different models. You can choose from a round model, a rectangular model or a square model. The floating design creates a sense of space and fills the room with shades of warm to cool white light. The Philips Hue Surimu ceiling light is now also available in a round shape with a diameter of 395 mm and in a new square shape that is half the size (300 x 300 mm) of the existing square Surimu. The ceiling light is recessed into the ceiling and spreads a soft glow of colorful or white light.
Two new features in the app:
Philips Hue is also introducing new and improved features in the Hue app that allow you to manage your lighting even better. The brightness balancer allows you to adjust the brightness of individual bulbs in an entertainment zone instead of controlling the bulbs as a group. This new feature was developed at the request of Philips Hue users to have more control over the lights while watching a movie, listening to music or gaming. Using this new feature, you can control which part of the room is highlighted when you sync the lamps with your TV, movie, game or music. In addition, the feature allows lamps with different lumen values to be dimmed evenly. Thus, a lamp with a higher light output (lumens) can be dimmed to the same level as a lamp with a lower lumen value. This feature becomes available in the third quarter and is usable in any Philips Hue Entertainment zone.
An update to the Philips Hue Bridge also expands the capabilities of the Philips Hue motion sensors. Based on common feedback, the number of time periods for the motion sensors to trigger the desired lighting is increased from the current two to ten. Whether you want energetic bright light in the morning, warm light in the early evening to relax, or dimmed light at night, these additional time periods allow you to set your lighting during any time of day based on your daily routine. In addition, the natural light scene can be selected as part of any of these time periods to mimic daylight during the day. This expanded feature will become available via an update to the Philips Hue Bridge and is expected to launch in the third quarter.
