Increasingly, machines and systems must be networked, leading to increased electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

Especially in industrial plants where frequency-controlled motors are used, there is an increase of unwanted currents on the potential equalization or grounding cables. LAPP therefore set out to investigate the physical coupling mechanisms within motor connection cables to come up with an innovative cable design. As a result, a new, innovative EMC solution with zeroCM® technology.

Instead of solving the EMC problem through shielding, LAPP rethought the entire cable design of the ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD zeroCM® when developing the zeroCM® technology. Three phase conductors are now symmetrically arranged and twisted into an inner layer and one protective conductor in an outer layer with opposite strand direction around the three phase conductors is made up in a specific lay length ratio. The insulation of the conductors is optimized in terms of capacity and consists of polyethylene, polypropylene or a foam variety. There is a separating fleece between the inner layer and the outer layer.

Very suitable for sensitive sensors

The zeroCM® technology also prevents voltages at the ground potential (ground voltage) on the consumer side from occurring. Especially when using, for example, sensitive sensors such as analog transducers, this is an important feature.
